Speaking of standing atop a pile of vanquished enemies, I saw the new Conan the Barbarian last night. It was bad. Jason Momoa has the look of a barbarian, but that's nothing new. The movie committed the cardinal sin of an action movie by being boring. The old Conan spent its downtime being contemplative, with the right amount of cheesy pseudo-gravitas. New Conan spent its downtime trying to make Conan a hero of the downtrodden. Thulsa Doom had magic and used it effectively when he had to; new Conan's magical MacGuffin may have looked cool but granted approximately zero power to the badguy. Rose McGowan had more magic in her little finger than that apocalypse mask had in all its tentacles.
